Arbor day is a national holiday celebrating the earth and spreading awareness about environmental issues. Although it is more specifically aimed at motivating people to plant more trees.

The Arbor foundation are one such group, they are a non profit organization founded in 1972 that raise funds for campaigns such as ‘Time for Trees”.

With the goal of planting 100 million trees by 2022. Youtubers and Philanthropists, Mr Beast and Mark Rober have given the foundation their support by raising 20 million dollars and planting 20 million trees. Even using drones to help the process along. Team trees has raised over 23 million dollars with notable individual like Elon Musk also donating to the cause.

The History of Arbor Day

Arbor Day itself has been around since 1872, coincidently 100 years before the Arbor Day Foundation began. It all started in Nebraska city on April 10th, By a man named Julius Sterling Morton. It wasn’t until 1885 that Arbor Day became an official holiday. Arbor Day was actually nearly named Sylvan Day which refers to only forest trees, But Morton insisted Arbor would be used to include all trees. Up until 1920, Arbor Day was celebrated on the 22nd of April, This was to honor Morton on his birthday.

When is Arbor Day Celebrated

Now days Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday of April every year. For this year, It will take place on the 29th of April.
