The Festival of Enormous Changes on December 30 is an annual event that celebrates the potential for transformation, no matter how small or large. A reminder that even the shortest amount of time can be used to make meaningful changes in our lives.
The festival is an opportunity to reflect on the goals we have achieved and the ones we are yet to tackle.
What is The Festival of Enormous Changes?
Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute is an annual day to complete or work on resolutions made the previous year, or get a jump start on those items we hope to complete in the coming year.
Although the origins of the actual festival are somewhat murky, the annual practice is by some tributed to the the short story work of the same name by 20th century author and activist Grace Paley, whose work concentrated on every day struggles and triumphs taken from her home base in the Bronx in New York City.

Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute Dates
This year Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute is celebrated on Saturday, Dec 30, 2023
How is the festival celebrated?
The beauty of the festival is that it can be celebrated in nearly any fashion you choose. If you prefer to take the opportunity to spend with a group of friends, or if you want to be alone, there are no rules other than you spend the day taking time out to finalize a plan to attain your goals, or sit down with pen and paper and plot those you want to tackle in the next year.
Why do we love it?
This day is a final opportunity before the year ends to take stock of what we were able to accomplish and make any last minute changes prior to the year expiring.
The Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute is a whimsical and lighthearted exercise in self reflection and improvement. Whether you choose to join with a group of friends or like minded people, or decide you quietly reflect and set a new course, the purpose is to set aside the day for “you” time. Our daily routines most often do not afford us with the time or opportunity to comprehensively take a barometer reading on where we’d like to be as human beings. So each December 30th is one day you can set aside as a personal favor to you. Never has a nationally recognized festival been so easy!
