Around the world, a fundamental change is occurring in people’s thoughts. People recognize that ‘progress’ should prioritize human pleasure and well-being, not only economic growth.

March 20 has been declared as the annual International Day of Happiness, as well as all 193 United Nations member states have signed a resolution calling for a greater emphasis on happiness.

This campaign is a global observance of the United Nations’ International Day of Happiness. It is hosted by Campaign for Happiness, a non-profit group that connects people from 160 nations together and is endorsed by a network of like-minded groups.

What is the International Day of Happiness?

Without a doubt, it is a fantastic day! Since 2013, the United Nations has commemorated the International Day of Happiness to emphasize the significance of happiness in people’s lives worldwide. The United Nations established the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 with the goal of eradicating poverty, reducing inequality & protecting the environment – three critical components of happiness and well-being.

Every person, regardless of age, and every classroom, company, and the government is welcome to take part in the United Nations’ International Day of Happiness celebration.

In its resolution 66/281 of July 12, 2012, the United Nations General Assembly designated March 20 as International Day of Happiness, recognizing the importance of happiness and as well as universal dreams and ambitions in the lives of people worldwide, as well as the significance of including them in public policy objectives. Additionally, it recognized the need for a more inclusive, equitable, and balanced economic growth framework that promotes long-term development, poverty reduction, happiness, and the well-being of all individuals.
