World of Tanks has a really slow progression and tank unlocks, and the gold ammo certainly doesn’t help make the game better. Armored Warfare greatly improves upon almost every concept that may annoy you in World of Tanks, and it’s certainly worth taking a closer look at.

Armored Warfare is a free-to-play MMO tactical military game that puts you in control of modern tanks, armored vehicles and more! Armored Warfare features stunning next-gen visuals, dynamic destructible environments, customizable vehicles and intense team-based gameplay where players work to crush each other with the power of modern combat vehicles.
Armored Warfare features combat vehicles from the 1950s through modern day and includes destructible environments as well as PvE and PvP gameplay. It’s built on the free-to-play business model with in-game micro-transactions available for certain features and upgrades.
Features
Vehicle Classes
In Armored Warfare you can play with one of five different classes: Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), Light Tanks, Tank Destroyers, Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) and Self-Propelled Guns (SPGs). This offers a diverse set of gameplay and tactical options, especially considering there’s tons of customization options.
PvE Battles
One of Armored Warfare’s more exciting features are the PvE missions, where you and your friends can complete special assignments and contracts against AI-controlled enemies. These missions have difficulty levels, and Insane difficulty can be very challenging (but also very rewarding!). Hardest difficulties are suitable for organized groups of players, and have increased chances for bosses to appear.
PvP Battles
AW’s flagship feature of course is player versus player combat. 15v15 battles are played until either team destroys all enemy vehicles or captures the enemy base. In PvP you can get Reputation which is used to unlock vehicles and their modules, and Credits which are used to repair and purchase vehicles.
Vehicle Customization
In Armored Warfare, vehicles are upgraded by using a system of module upgrades – each module improving a certain aspect of the vehicle. These upgrades are separated into four different categories: Armor, Firepower, Mobility, and Technology. There’s also “Retrofits”, a unique upgrade system that allows you to further customize your vehicle’s performance.

Is it pay to win?
Like any F2P game Armored Warfare has a cash shop, but it’s limited to cosmetic purchases and visual customizations of your vehicles, and certain boosts to player progression. The game doesn’t offer any premium ammo for unfair advantages, but if you feel the need to unlock new vehicles 50% faster you can.
Why play it?
Because in Armored Warfare you can build the world’s most powerful military. Because it has storytelling and PvE, for those days where you simply want to casually enjoy a game without the competitive frustration.
Because it’s easy to upgrade and customize your vehicle with loadouts which fit any playstyle. And because it’s F2P, in open beta, and only going to get better!
